Wyland Whaling Wall

Renowned marine life artist Wyland changed the way people think about our environment when he started painting life-sized whales on the sides of buildings in the 1980s. The Wyland name is synonymous with a new generation of awareness about our environment and marine life conservation.

Wyland’s goal was to create 100 monumental marine life murals, known as Wyland Whaling Walls throughout the world. On September 29, 1998 the Aquarium of Niagara became the home to the life size mural, “Atlantic Humpback Whales”, Wall #81. Wyland met his goal in 2008 when he created “Hands Across the Oceans,” which was featured at the Beijing Olympic Culture Festival.

The Aquarium of Niagara is proud of our Wyland Whaling Wall and we encourage all our guests to examine the work of the great artist and adopt his marine conservation goals.
