Penguin Days 2023

diagram

Waddle Over to the Aquarium of Niagara for our Annual Penguin Days Celebration!

Immerse yourself in the world of Humboldt penguins with exciting, interactive, and unique programming.

WHEN: Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19, 2023

COST: Included with general admission

This year’s festivities take place during a challenging time for international bird populations as the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) continues to loom large. Guests will experience first-hand how we have adapted our policies and procedures to protect our Humboldt penguin colony from this dangerous disease while still finding ways to provide immersive and engaging experiences with these charismatic animal ambassadors.

Activities include:

  • Modified public penguin encounters* at 10:30am and 12:00pm on Saturday, and at 10:30am, 12:00pm, 3:00pm, and 4:30pm on Sunday
  • Prehistoric penguin display
  • Hands-on fun at a Jr. vet station
  • Special penguin-themed presentations, feedings, and visual enrichment sessions
  • Exciting raffle for penguin-painted prizes
Proceeds from a special raffle for penguin painted merchandise and a portion of designated penguin plush sales will go to support the Humboldt penguin research and recovery efforts of the Punta San Juan Program.
* Please note: Participation in public encounters will be limited to 75 guests in each session. Tickets will be available on-site on a first come, first serve basis an hour before each scheduled encounter. Participants will be asked to be in line for the encounters 15 minutes prior to the experience. Standby ticketing will be available pending participants not reporting for their designated slot.

This is a NON-CONTACT experience and there will be no touching of the birds.
