TRAINER FOR A DAY

exclusive encounters for hands-on helpers

Overview

Put on your (imaginary) wetsuit and experience a day in the life of a marine mammal and birds trainer! Help the trainers prepare fish, learn about the animal’s medical care, provide fun, engaging enrichment, and so much more.

Of course, a trainer’s work is all about the animals, and you will make authentic connections with our animals at every turn. Take advantage of the EXCLUSIVE opportunity to meet a California sea lion, an experience that is only available through participation in this program. Encounter friendly seals during a feeding and waddle over to Penguin Coast to hang out with some feathered friends.

The experience includes a t-shirt, snacks, and photos to remember your day!

  • This program does NOT include general admission. Admission must be purchased separately.
  • You must be at least 12 years old to participate in Trainer for a Day.
  • There are only two participants per session. Parents and guardians cannot accompany the participant during the day but do have the option to watch activities that occur in the public viewing area.
  • Participants cannot have participated in an animal rescue within 48 hours of the program’s start time.
