TOUCH TANK LESSONS
Your students can get in “touch” with the ocean during their visit. Please ask about reserving a touch tank session when calling for your reservation. The touch tank is filled with an array of living sea creatures including sea stars, crabs, lobsters and horseshoe crabs. After an introductory lesson on the marine invertebrates, students are given the opportunity to feel and hold these fascinating invertebrate animals. For many of our local students, this is their first hands-on experience with ocean animals. Groups of 30 students can be accommodated in each session. Presentations will be repeated for larger groups.
NOTE: RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE WELL IN ADVANCE TO ENSURE A TOUCH TANK SESSION.
MARINE MAMMAL SHOWS
Our California sea lions will enlighten and entertain your students as they perform in daily shows. The show schedule is 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 and the last show is at 4:30 p.m. (During the summer months show times do change)
FEEDING SCHEDULE
Learn about the Aquarium’s inhabitants during penguin, shark and tidal pool feeding presentations. We also offer an outdoor harbor seal feeding presentation. Each feed presentation is followed by a Meet-the-Keeper session. Be sure to ask the admissions desk about the feeding scheduled during your visit.
AVOID THE CROWDS...
Visit our educational facility during the fall and winter months. These months are ideal times for Aquarium field trips. During these months our visitation numbers are lower and the Aquarium is less crowded. In cases of inclement weather, we would be happy to reschedule your visit. Our peak visitation period is in the spring. Afternoons are much less crowded than mornings.
