Meet a Harbor Seal
During your visit, don’t miss an opportunity for a unique encounter you’ll never forget – the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with one of our harbor seals! This fifteen minute session gives you a behind the scenes look at the care and training of our marine mammals, as well as the opportunity to meet one of our harbor seals! Reservations are required, and limited space is available. Reservations can be made by calling (716)-285-3575 extension 214 or stopping by our gift shop.

Program Highlights:
Participant will get up close and personal with one of the Aquarium’s marine mammals
Participant will interact through touching, feeding and playing alongside trainers
Participant will have a photo taken with one of our harbor seals, available for purchase at an additional cost
Behind the scenes tour and time to learn about what it takes to care for our animals

Restrictions:
Encounters do not include Aquarium of Niagara admission
Participant(s) must be 8 years of age or older and able to climb stairs, kneel, bend, sit and stand
Participant(s) must complete a release form prior to participating in the program; minors under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign their release form
Encounters are for paying participant(s) only
Participant(s) must not be pregnant
Participant(s) must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Participant(s) must be capable of and willing to participate
Participant(s) must be able to understand English and be a competent swimmer, though you will not be entering the water
Participant(s) must not have participated in a marine mammal rescue within the previous 48 hours to avoid transmission of disease to our animals
Participant(s) must be able to follow instructions, and can be asked to leave the program at anytime

Observers:
Aquarium admission allows the accompanying party to observe the participant during the encounter from our public viewing areas. Observers are not permitted into restricted or behind the scenes areas.
Cancellations and Reservations:
Program is $55 per participant, or two participants for $100. Payment is required to make a reservation
The program is available at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. from June 27, 2015 until September 7, 2015
Refunds will NOT be issued to participants who are too cold, scared of animals or the water, change their minds or otherwise choose not to participate
Reservations may be made up until ten minutes before the start of the program
Reservations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, limited to four participants per session
Programs are not canceled due to light rain or wind, only inclement weather; rain checks will be provided
Animal participation is optional and although rare, sometimes an animal may choose not to participate in a given situation
We reserve the right to cancel or amend program content and price without notice
Refunds are not available after payment has been received
Animal training staff may end the session at any time with or without notice
Day of Interaction
Participants will be greeted in the gift shop by animal training staff ten minutes before the start of their scheduled session, participants must be on time or their reservation may be sold
Participants must wear closed-toe shoes with traction. High heels are not allowed
The exhibit is outdoors so participants should dress accordingly
Please note that you may get salt water on your shoes and clothing, and the deck can be slippery

PENGUIN ENCOUNTER

Meet a Penguin
Penguins are among our most beloved animals at the Aquarium of Niagara. During your next visit, don’t miss an egg-straordinary opportunity for a unique experience with one of our Humboldt penguin residents. During the approximately 20 minute group session you will get a unique look at the care and husbandry of our colony of Humboldt penguins giving you a greater understanding and appreciation of these remarkable birds.

Program Highlights:
Participant(s) will get up close with one of our Humboldt Penguins
Participate in an interactive session behind the scenes of the penguin enclosure
Participant(s) will get the chance to have a picture with a penguin

Restrictions:
Encounters do not include Aquarium of Niagara admission, admission is required
Participant(s) must be 8 years of age or older and able to climb stairs, kneel, bend, sit and stand
Participant(s) must also complete a release form prior to participating in the program. Minors under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign their release form
Encounters are for paying participant(s) only
Participant(s) must not be pregnant
Participant(s) must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Participant(s) must be capable of and willing to participate
Participant(s) must be able to understand and communicate in English

Observers:
The entire penguin encounter program, including the animal experience, occurs behind the scenes and may not be viewable by the public. Only participant(s) in the program will be taken to the interactive areas. Observers are not permitted into the behind the scenes areas without permission from an Aquarist.

Cancellations and Reservations:
Program is $75.00 per participant (maximum 2 participants per encounter)
This program is available at 10:30 am daily; participant(s) may reschedule with 24-hour prior notification with Exhibits staff due to an emergency and/or extenuating circumstances
Reservations must be made at least one week in advance
Refunds will NOT be issued to participants who are too cold, scared of animals or the water, change their minds or otherwise choose not to participate
Programs are not canceled due to cold or inclement weather
Animal participation is optional and although rare, sometimes an animal may choose not to participate in a given situation
Refunds are not available after payment has been received
Exhibits husbandry staff may end the session at any time with or without notice

Day of Interaction
Upon arrival participant(s) will inform the Aquarium sales associate of their scheduled session and complete any necessary paperwork
Particpant(s) will be greeted by Exhibits staff after the 10:00 AM penguin feeding by the exhibit
The exhibit is behind the scenes so participants should dress accordingly (no high heels, hair pulled back)
Please note that you may get water on your shoes and/or clothing, and the deck can be slippery

GROUP PENGUIN ENCOUNTER

Meet a Penguin
Penguins are among our most beloved animals at the Aquarium of Niagara. During your next visit, don’t miss an egg-straordinary opportunity for a unique experience with one of our Humboldt penguin residents. Small group session 3-10 participants
Large group session 11-75 participants * due to size no animal interaction just observation during session

Program Highlights:
Small group: $50/participant
+   Aquarist presentation on penguins in our community room
     or education classroom
+   Participants will be able to have a brief interactive session
     with one of our penguins
+   Participants will have an opportunity to have an individual
     or group photo at an additional cost
Large group: $150/group rate * due to size no animal interaction just observation during session
+   Aquarist presentation on penguins in our community or
     education classroom space with a penguin present
+   Participants will have an opportunity to have a group
     photo at an additional cost
