Meet a Seal: Visitors who already interacted with one of the Aquarium’s playful trained seals tell us this is a can’t miss chance that becomes one of the season’s highlights. This 20-minute session gives you a look at the care and training of all our marine mammals and an opportunity to touch feed and play with one of the seals. Prices were $55 a person and now they’re only $45 or $39 if you’re an Aquarium member. Tours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM. Participants must be at least 8 years old.

Behind the Scenes Tour: The last time you visited the Aquarium did you ever wonder what happens behind the scenes? One of the Aquarium’s knowledgeable trainers will give you a guided half-hour where you’ll learn how our staff works with our animals, how we make sea water, how many tons of fish our animals eat each year and other fun facts. You’ll also go backstage to view one of our animals up close and when the tour concludes you’ll get reserved seating during the “Spirit of the Sea” sea lion show. The price for this tour was $30 per person or $25 for members and now the price has been reduced to $10 per person or just $8 for members. Tours take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. You must be at least 6 years old to participate.

Humboldt Penguin Interactive Program: Penguins are one of the most beloved animals at the Aquarium and this fun yet educational 20-minute session is a rare opportunity to have a close encounter with one of these flightless birds. You’ll experience an entertaining interaction with a penguin and gain an understanding about their care and what makes these animals remarkable. Encounters were $75 each and the price is cut to $65 per person or $55 for each member. (Small groups of 3-10 people pay just $50 per person/$40 for members and larger groups of 11-75 people are just $150 for the group or $125 for a group if a member pays.) Encounters take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 AM. Visitors must be at least 8 years old to enjoy this experience.

Public Touch Tank: New at the Aquarium are our public touch tank sessions every Saturday at 9:30 AM, 1:00 PM and 1:45 Pm. You’ll find out what a sea star feels like, what a lobster eats and so much more. Join us and learn about our invertebrates and enjoy a hands-on experience with these animals in our education room. Little Squirt Toddler Program: Book this program now because it’s the third Tuesday of every month but only until June 20th at 9:30 am. Sign your toddler up for multiple sessions because no two are alike. Each monthly session is specifically designed to encourage interaction between parent and child through story time, crafts and hands-on learning experiences. Designed for children 2 -5 years old. $7.50/child for non-members and $5/member. Adults participate with their child for free. Call 716-285-3575 to reserve your spot today.

Live Green, Protect Blue: April 22nd at 4:00 pm. Earth is the only home we have and it’s in trouble. It is up to us to save our planet, but how? Aided by hands-on activities and some animal friends you will be inspired to live green and protect blue. Geared toward 6 – 12 year olds. Just $5/person for non-members; members free. Au-Some Aquarium Program: Begins April 22nd at 6 – 8 pm and continues all year, once a month on May 28th, June 24th, July 8th, August 5th, September 2nd, October 7th, November 4th and December 2nd. Partnering with Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, we now have a special program designed for families who have children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) that provides an amazing aquarium experience for those who are too sensitive to lights and sounds to attend during regular business hours. The nights are free to aquarium member families who have a child with ASD and just $10/family for non-members.   Details

Wild Mothers and Babies: May 9th at 2:30 pm. Celebrate Mother’s Day by learning about different animal mothers and their babies. Discover how different animals raise the next generation with stories from the wild and activities based on amazing adaptations – all while having fun together with your own loved ones. Feed the Touch Tank: Beginning Wednesday, June 15th and every Wednesday through the end of August. You already know who’s who and what’s what in the touch tank. Now take part in their care and learn about the invertebrates’ food and how we feed them. It’s a fun and interactive experience where you get to feed the invertebrates! Great for all ages. Junior Vet Class: June 24th 1:30 – 3:30 pm. Running an aquarium requires a lot of attention to the health of the animals. This very interesting, hands-on class takes you behind the scenes to meet the staff responsible for their health. You’ll also see how we care for our entire living collection. Geared toward kids 12 – 16 years old. Non-members pay $20/person for this two-hour class and members pay $5. Call 716-285-3575 before the class is full.

Sharks in the Depth: July 29th at 10:30 am. Despite being one of the most familiar ocean animals, sharks are greatly misunderstood creatures. Get the facts with us as we dive into their world to discuss how they hunt, what they eat and whether they are really a danger to humans. This hands-on class will leave you with a new appreciation for a top predator of the ocean. Great for all ages. Just $5/person for non-members; members free. Aquatic All-Star Camp: August 22nd through August 26th from 9 am to 4 pm. Searching for an exciting summer experience for your child? Our Aquatic All-Star Camp provides an opportunity to get close to some of your favorite aquarium animals! Each day centers on a different animal and their natural habitat. Every camper will have an unforgettable experience that focuses on science, nature and conservation. With hands-on learning and up-close animal encounters this will be a summer to remember.
