Visitors who already interacted with one of the Aquarium’s playful trained seals tell us this is a can’t miss chance that becomes one of the season’s highlights. This 20-minute session gives you a look at the care and training of all our marine mammals and an opportunity to touch feed and play with one of the seals. Prices were $55 a person and now they’re only $45 or $39 if you’re an Aquarium member. Tours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM. Participants must be at least 8 years old.

Behind the Scenes Tour

The last time you visited the Aquarium did you ever wonder what happens behind the scenes? One of the Aquarium’s knowledgeable trainers will give you a guided half-hour where you’ll learn how our staff works with our animals, how we make sea water, how many tons of fish our animals eat each year and other fun facts. You’ll also go backstage to view one of our animals up close and when the tour concludes you’ll get reserved seating during the “Spirit of the Sea” sea lion show. The price for this tour was $30 per person or $25 for members and now the price has been reduced to $10 per person or just $8 for members. Tours take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. You must be at least 6 years old to participate.

Humboldt Penguin Interactive Program

Penguins are one of the most beloved animals at the Aquarium and this fun yet educational 20-minute session is a rare opportunity to have a close encounter with one of these flightless birds. You’ll experience an entertaining interaction with a penguin and gain an understanding about their care and what makes these animals remarkable. Encounters were $75 each and the price is cut to $65 per person or $55 for each member. (Small groups of 3-10 people pay just $50 per person/$40 for members and larger groups of 11-75 people are just $150 for the group or $125 for a group if a member pays.) Encounters take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 AM. Visitors must be at least 8 years old to enjoy this experience.

Public Touch Tank
9:30AM, & 4:00PM

New at the Aquarium are our public touch tank sessions every . You’ll find out what a sea star feels like, what a lobster eats and so much more. Join us and learn about our invertebrates and enjoy a hands-on experience with these animals in our education room. Members sign up for free; Nonmembers just $3. Little Squirt Toddler Program
(Third Tuesday of every month) 9:30AM to 10:30 AM

Sign up your toddler and you for multiple sessions or one at a time. Each session is designed to encourage interaction between parent and child through story time, crafts and, most important, hands-on learning experiences. Each session’s theme is structured to enhance a child’s interest in our aquatic ecosystem. $5/child for members and $7.50/child for nonmembers. Price does not include Aquarium admission for nonmembers but parents/guardians receive 50% off regular adult admission. Call 716-285-3575 x209 to reserve your place.

Sea Lion Show - "Spirit of the Sea"
11:00AM, 1:00PM, 3:30PM & 5:30PM

Captivated audiences will feel the energy and spirit of the sea, and realize that we are all part of one world connected by an incredibly strong and special bond. A customized soundtrack, composed by Bernd Gottinger from SUNY Fredonia, compliments the show with heart-pounding orchestration that captures the excitement, passion and emotion projected from the show. A dynamic visual display unfolds as the cast of human and animal performers swim, soar and dive among one another throughout the performance.

Seal Presentation
10:30AM, & 4:30PM

Our Pacific Preserve presentations offer guests the opportunity to learn about the Aquarium’s harbor seals and how they are cared for. Trainers will introduce you to these fascinating marine mammals and their unique adaptations that allow them to thrive in their ocean environment.

Penguin Feeding
10:00AM & 3:00PM

Listen to our Aquarists describe these remarkable birds, their care here at the Aquarium of Niagara, and the special bond they form with their caretakers. Visitors will learn about the history of the species and conservation issues affecting these intriguing animals.

Tidal Pool or Shark Feedings
11:30AM (Opposite Days)

Learn more about these fascinating marine creatures through the experts that care for them.
